Schwipe

Schwipe was launched by graphic designer Tim Everist in 1999 as a men's T-shirt business and was later joined by graphic artist Misa Glisovic - “It was only out of necessity that we started making our own clothes because everything else was shit”

Irreverent, funny and unintelligent but undeniably cool, Schwipe has notoriety for tee designs that are anything but ignorant. Tee slogans have included "Ketamine Is a Drug for Horses", "Rehab is For Quitters" and “Islam is OK!”. Also produced are street staples such as hoodies, knit sweatshirts and jeans that carry Schwipe’s original prints. Over the years, the label introduced complete men and women’s collections to their core tee designs.

The label’s worldwide appeal is now official, with icons such as Kanye West and skateboarding godfather Tony Alva spotted in Schwipe gear. Schwipe began exporting in 2003 and is now sold in New York, London, Germany, Singapore and Taiwan. They have also recently opened a hidden away retail/gallery space ’Don’t Come’ in Melbourne.
